Great atmosphere, interior and exterior. Portions look a bit small for BBQ overall, but the food is very tasty. The meat is weighed, so maybe the silver serving trays are too big I got the brisket, which didn't have a huge fat layer (I was very happy about this). Adults can order the kid's meals if you're not too hungry and/or on a budget. Lots of ciders and beers, soda fountain, hot BBQ sauce bar! Kid-friendly, dog friendly, big party friendly. They also host private events. The service was very fast, and they do sell merch. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but some street parking is available - otherwise, you need a residential permit. The bathroom was very clean, although the hand-washing area was co-ed.

I recently tried this barbecue spot, and while it wasn’t bad, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The pork ribs could’ve been more tender and I wish they had more flavor. The greens were solid with no complaints, though the side salad wasn’t really to my taste. On the bright side, the cornbread with brown sugar butter was a standout and absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was chill. And everything is pretty much self serve. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but I’m not sure I’d come back for a second round.

My order was to-go, so plating may not resemble what you get in person. While the plates may be different, the food is absolutely the same and phenomenal!

I truly want to thank Chris and Esteban for correcting my order without question. Their prompt response, and attention to service are above and beyond what I had expected.

I have eaten here in person before, and the environment is extremely relaxed and enjoyable. It can be a little loud, but not too loud that you can’t carry on a conversation. The staff are nice, the cashiers I’ve encountered, the people answering the phones, the take out guys, and even the responses through social media, it seems like this team is truly all about making sure you have nothing less than a positive experience regardless who you speak with.

This meal included the burnt ends, cheddar-wurst, mac & cheese, and the beans. I wish I would have gotten 4lbs of the burnt ends because the meat was so tender. Fat doesn’t look good on me, but the crispy fat on these burnt ends with a soft chewy middle, ohmygawd, it was beautiful. I love when a good meat is cooked so well, it melts in your mouth. Flavor explosion! The cheddar-wurst was cooked to perfection, firm, but surprisingly tender enough to cut through with a butter knife. The Mac & cheese was creamy and super cheesy. The beans were so hearty, they could be a meal all on their own.

It’s officially November, so today I am thankful for good food, good service, and that it finally feels like sweater weather.

Urban Roots is amazing! If you go to Sacramento, this is definitely a must visit! Brisket was amazing. Perfectly cooked. Fries are battered. Other than the car meuseum, this would be the only other place to visit. It's got tons of different beers and lots of room. Dog friendly too. So glad we found Urban Roots.

Food is excellent. Delicious. Lots of beers on tap that are great. Great location and atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very busy around lunchtime. Inside and outside seating locations. They cater as well. Highly recommended. My favorite is the brisket and pulled pork.

When a friend told me that she was starting a new job, I immediately sent her a list of possible restaurants for us to celebrate this achievement. To my delight, she selected Urban Roots Brewing and Smokehouse…a restaurant that I have had bookmarked on Yelp for quite some time. Being that Christmas is near, the restaurant was packed with what looked like colleagues having a holiday party accompanied by good food and brews.

I ordered the half portion Pork Belly Burnt Ends (so freakin delicious) meal with fries and cornbread (it’s carb-loading season). To quench my thirst, I ordered the refreshing Blend In: Tropical ale (I’m not a fan of beer but found this to be quite satisfying). If you’re a beer fan, they have a diverse selection.

The staff here are very personable and friendly. Towards the end of our visit, who I believe to be either a supervisor or co-owner, retrieved our empty glasses and politely inquired about our dining experience (i.e., satisfaction with the food and drinks). His approach led me to believe that this business truly values the feedback of their customers, which is one of the indications of great management. I look forward to making a return visit in the near future!

We heard great things about this place and we were excited to try! Unfortunately, I did not like this place. I don’t get the hype. We ordered 2 brisket tacos, pork belly, burnt end beans, pulled pork, corn bread, alabama chicken and a side salad. As soon as we sat down, the waiter had brought out our food. 0 wait time = red flag. The tacos were COLD! Portions were SMALL! Chicken was drenched in sauce, but dry! The atmosphere was cool I guess very contemporary, but other than that I did not enjoy this place. Our total was almost $100 including two non - alcoholic beverages.
